Commonwealth legislation
This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
This Determination fixed 30 July 2013 as the end of the simulcast period for the Darwin TV1 licence area, requiring broadcasters to stop transmitting both analog and digital signals after that date. It affected commercial broadcasters in Darwin and households still using analog sets who needed digital reception to keep watching TV.
It matters because, once the simulcast obligation ended, broadcasters could legally switch off analog transmissions — a locally timed step in Australia’s national digital TV rollout under the Minister’s Schedule 4 powers in the Broadcasting Services Act 1992.
