Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This regulation is a straightforward housekeeping measure that removes outdated laws from the statute books.

What it does

Repeals (cancels) the Atomic Energy (A.A.E.C. Stock) Regulations 1979 (Statutory Rules 1979 No. 240)
These old regulations governed stock held by the Australian Atomic Energy Commission (A.A.E.C.)

Why it matters

The A.A.E.C. was the predecessor to today's Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO)
The Commission was replaced in 1987, making the 1979 regulations obsolete
This instrument simply cleans up the statute book by deleting laws that no longer serve any purpose

Who it affects

Generally, no one directly. This is administrative maintenance rather than a change to operational rules. It reduces red tape by removing defunct legislation.
