9 Use of electric prodders prohibited

(1)  In this regulation –

electric prodder means a handheld device used to deliver an electric shock.

(2)  A person must not –

(a) use an electric prodder on a pig; or

(b) cause or allow another person to use an electric prodder on a pig –

except in accordance with the Animal Welfare (Transport of Livestock) Regulations (No. 2) 2023 .

Penalty:  In the case of –

(a) a body corporate, a fine not exceeding 100 penalty units; or

(b) a natural person, a fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
