Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

Requires installation of cargo-bay placards. Operators of specified Saab SF340B aircraft must fit placards in the cargo bay following SAAB Service Bulletin 340-25-244 Revision 1 to stop a baggage net’s forward webbing from loading a kinked bulkhead floor attachment. It affects the listed serial-numbered aircraft and must be done by 13 October 2000 (AD effective 13 July 2000). Owners/operators arrange and fund the work; CASA enforces the requirement.

Note: LFV AD 1-118 R1 refers.

Compliance: Before 13 October 2000, unless already accomplished. This Amendment becomes effective on 13 July 2000.

Background: With the installation of a certain baggage net in combination with the kinked bulkhead, it has been found that the forward webbing of the net is too close to the aft face of the bulkhead. This situation may result in baggage overloading the bulkhead’s floor attachments. This Directive requires the installation of placards.

Amendment 1 is issued in response to a revision of the related LBA AD which adds three aircraft serial numbers to applicability.

The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 11 September 1997.
