Plain English Summary

5/10 complexity

This AD requires operators of certain Rolls‑Royce RB211 turbofan engines (as listed in the manufacturer's Alert Service Bulletin) to inspect the combustion liner head section for signs of distress and, ultimately, to fit specified Rolls‑Royce modifications. The inspection must follow the Rolls‑Royce service bulletin or a CASA‑approved procedure; installing the specified modifications ends the need for the recurring inspection. It affects aircraft operators and maintenance organisations that operate or overhaul the listed RB211 engines and changes maintenance scheduling and costs.
