AD/PA-23/24 - Stabilator Tab Horn - Inspection - CANCELLED

This document cancels a previous aircraft safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive or AD) that applied to Piper PA-23 Apache and Aztec aeroplanes.

What the original rule required: Back in 1971, the aviation safety authority issued a directive requiring daily inspections of the stabilator tab horn (a control surface component on the aircraft's tail). Owners had to keep inspecting this part until the aircraft was modified according to manufacturer instructions (Service Bulletin No. 199A).

What this document does: It officially cancels that 1971 directive effective 3 July 2008. Because all affected aircraft would have been inspected and modified decades ago, the old rule is no longer needed.

Who this affects: Owners and operators of Piper PA-23 aircraft. Practically speaking, this removes an outdated inspection requirement that no longer applies.
