AD/PA-23/14 - Rudder Trim Tab Control Rod - Inspection - CANCELLED

This instrument cancels an old aircraft safety inspection rule.

What it cancelled Previously, a directive called AD/PA-23/14 required owners of Piper PA-23 Apache and Aztec aeroplanes to perform a one-time inspection of the rudder trim tab control rod (a part that helps control the aircraft's steering). This requirement came from an American safety notice dating back to 1957.

Why it was cancelled The Civil Aviation Safety Authority determined this inspection is no longer necessary because:

• The original safety notice was issued in 1957
• All affected aircraft would have been modified decades ago
• The requirement is now obsolete

Who is affected Owners and operators of Piper PA-23 series aircraft. Since the directive is cancelled, no action is required.
