Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: A mandatory aviation safety rule (an Airworthiness Directive) requiring a one-time inspection of specific hardware on certain aircraft autopilot systems.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of aircraft equipped with the King KFC200 Integrated Automatic Flight Control System (IAFCS) — an autopilot system made by King Radio (now part of Honeywell).

What it requires: You must inspect the "bridle cable clamps" (metal brackets that secure the autopilot's control cables) according to the procedure in the manufacturer's document "King Installation Bulletin 101."

When: The inspection must be completed within 100 hours of flight time after 31 August 1976.

Why it matters: This prevents potential failure of the autopilot due to loose or faulty cable clamps, which could compromise aircraft control and safety.
