What it does
This instrument is an airworthiness directive titled AD/F100/66, addressing corrosion risk in the wing rear spar lower girder of certain Fokker F100 (F28 Mk 100) series aeroplanes. It applies to "All Model F28 Mk 0070 and F28 Mk 0100 aircraft" (Applicability). The directive requires a specific inspection sequence, corrective actions if corrosion or damage is found, mandatory reporting of findings, and timing for compliance. The mandatory actions are set out as four numbered requirements:
- Inspect the wing rear spar lower girder between STA 8700 and STA 9200 in accordance with Part 1 of Section 3 Accomplishment Instructions of Fokker Services Service Bulletin (SB) F100-57-038, dated 15 April 2005, or a later CAA-NL approved revision.
- If corrosion is found, remove it in accordance with Part 2 of Section 3 of the same SB; measure the damage and, if damage limits are not exceeded, return the aircraft to service after restoring surface protection.
- If damage limits are exceeded, contact Fokker Services and repair in accordance with the repair advice provided by Fokker Services.
- Report all findings to Fokker Services, irrespective of results.
The compliance timing is likewise specific and partly tiered: inspect at the next scheduled or unscheduled maintenance check within 4,000 flight hours after 7 July 2005, but not later than 15 April 2007 (Compliance 1); carry out corrective actions before further flight where those actions are required (Compliance 2 and 3); and submit the report within seven days after the inspection (Compliance 4). The directive became effective on 7 July 2005 and was signed by David Villiers, Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, on 19 May 2005. The document notes that Netherlands CAA AD NL-2005-006 is referred.
