Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This directive mandates a physical modification to the autopilot control handle on all Douglas DC‑3 series aeroplanes so it cannot be mistaken for the adjacent fuel cross‑feed handle, citing Figures 1 and 2 as an acceptable compliance method (or allowing regulator‑accepted alternatives). It affects DC‑3 owners, operators and maintenance organisations who must fund, perform and certify the change; it aims to reduce wrong‑control errors and places judgement of acceptability with certifying engineers and the regulator.
