What it does
This Airworthiness Directive (AD/CESSNA 210/74, effective 13 May 2008, signed 6 May 2008) requires inspection and remedial action for alternate static air source selector valves, part number (P/N) 2013142-18, that may have been installed on certain Cessna 210-series aeroplanes or held as spares. The directive applies to the models listed in Table 1 (various 210 and T210 sub-models), with all serial numbers, where an alternate static air source selector valve P/N 2013142-18 was installed after 19 November 2007 (see Table 1 and Applicability). It sets out three immediate options and subsequent steps:
-
Requirement 1: For aeroplanes listed in Table 1, either (a) inspect the alternate static air source selector valve in accordance with Requirement 3, or (b) inspect the maintenance records to determine whether P/N 2013142-18 has been installed since 19 November 2007; if not installed, no further action is necessary (Requirement 1 and Note 2). Note 2 permits the aeroplane operator to accomplish and certify the Requirement 1.b inspection if they hold at least a private pilot’s licence.
-
Requirement 2: If the records check indicates P/N 2013142-18 was installed since 19 November 2007, inspect the valve per Requirement 3.
-
Requirement 3: The inspection requires physical verification that the part number identification placard is not obstructing the port on the forward end of the valve. The inspection procedure specifies adjusting pilot and copilot seats as far aft as possible, and using a flashlight and mirror to verify the port is clearly visible and unobstructed (Requirement 3.a and 3.b).
-
Requirement 4: If the placard obstructs the port during inspection, remove and discard the placard and ensure the port is open and unobstructed (Requirement 4).
