Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This Airworthiness Directive mandates a safety modification to the front seat shoulder harnesses (upper torso restraints) in Beechcraft 36 (Bonanza) aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Beechcraft 36 series aeroplanes where the front seat restraints were originally installed according to Civil Flying Service Drawing No. CF1010.

What must be done: The upper torso restraint installation must be modified following a scheme approved by the Secretary (of the Department responsible for aviation). Specifically, modifying the restraints according to Molyneux Drawing No. MAD 1048 is pre-approved as an acceptable way to meet this requirement.

Why it matters: The approval for the original drawing (CF1010) has been withdrawn, indicating it no longer meets safety standards. This directive ensures these aircraft have safer restraint systems to protect occupants during accidents.

Deadline: The modification had to be completed within 100 hours of flight time after 31 December 1976.
