What it does
This airworthiness directive (AD), titled AD/BAe 146/41 Call Panel Mountings 3/92, appears in the Schedule of Airworthiness Directives under the Civil Aviation Regulations 1998, Part 39 - 105, administered by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. The operative instruction is short and concrete: "Requirement: Action in accordance with Mandatory British Aerospace 146 Service Bulletin 25-294- 36108B." The AD sets a mandatory corrective action addressing the "2L Call Panel Mountings" because, as the AD states in its Background, "Tests have shown that the 2L Call Panel Mountings do not meet the current cabin interior material flammability requirements."
The AD specifies applicability and a compliance deadline. The Applicability clause names "Model 146 with the following constructor’s numbers: Series 200, 200A." The document also contains a table of constructor numbers, and one table row includes the underlined text "Series 300, 300A" together with multiple E-numbers. The Compliance clause is explicit and time-bound: "Unless already accomplished; prior to 6 June 1992." The AD therefore requires operators whose aircraft fall within the stated applicability to carry out the action set out in the specified Mandatory Service Bulletin before 6 June 1992, unless that action has already been completed.
Mechanically, the AD does three things: it identifies affected aircraft by model and constructor numbers, it prescribes a single method of remedial action (following the named Mandatory British Aerospace Service Bulletin 25-294-36108B), and it fixes a hard compliance date. The AD text does not set out the technical steps themselves, it delegates the detailed rectifying work to the manufacturer’s service bulletin and makes compliance with that bulletin mandatory for the aircraft within the AD’s stated applicability.
