| This Amendment becomes effective on 1 February 2008. | |
| Background: | The FAA received reports of freeplay-induced vibration of the rudder and the elevator. The potential for vibration of the control surface must be avoided because the point of transition from vibration to divergent flutter is unknown. The actions required by this Directive are intended to prevent excessive vibration of the airframe during flight, which could result in loss of control of the aircraft.Amendment 1 is issued in response to a new FAA AD, which requires revised repetitive measurements of the rudder and elevator freeplay, corrective and related investigative actions if necessary, and repetitive lubrications of the rudder and elevator components. |
