Plain English Summary

4/10 complexity

This directive requires owners/operators of early-production Boeing 737-600/-700/-800 aircraft (line numbers 1–64) to follow FAA AD 99-04-11 inspections and repairs for damaged engine-strut insulation blankets. It adopts the U.S. safety standard into Australian law to prevent exposed strut metal from being heated and igniting fuel vapour. The fix reduces risk of catastrophic fire or explosion, protecting passengers, crew, and aircraft.
