What it does
AD/AMD 50/47 Amdt 1 (the Amendment) is an airworthiness directive issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) on 30 June 2009, effective 27 August 2009. It imposes a mandatory inspection and modification regime for crew and passenger oxygen lines on a defined subset of Dassault Falcon 900EX aeroplanes. The Amendment supersedes the original issue of the same directive (effective 30 July 2009) and requires compliance with Revision 1 of Dassault Aviation Service Bulletin (SB) F900EX-347 dated 18 May 2009, rather than the initial issue of that SB dated 19 March 2009.
Mechanically, the Amendment does three things. First, it requires a one-off inspection of the oxygen lines within two months of the effective date, following Part 1 of the SB accomplishment instructions. Second, if that inspection reveals any interference or damage, the operator must replace the affected oxygen lines and install improved brackets before further flight. Third, regardless of inspection results, the operator must replace the oxygen line support assemblies within 72 months of the effective date, using Part 2 of the SB instructions. These three requirements create a staggered compliance timeline: a short term check, an immediate corrective obligation if faults exist, and a longer term replacement of the support hardware.
The Amendment also clarifies applicability. The original directive applied to Falcon 900EX aeroplanes with serial numbers listed in Table 1. The Amendment revises that applicability (though the table in the instrument appears unchanged from the original, listing 44 specific serial numbers from 120 to 206). It also provides that inspections and corrective actions accomplished before the effective date of the Amendment, using the initial issue of the SB (19 March 2009), satisfy the requirements. Additionally, later revisions of the SB that are approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) are acceptable for compliance.
