A subsequent design review of the oxygen lines routing has confirmed that, on certain aeroplanes, equipped with a 115 cu-ft oxygen cylinder in the RH mid-cabin, may have been installed in such a way as to cause interference with the structure. This condition, if not corrected, could lead to an oxygen leak.As a result, the original issue of this Directive required inspection of the oxygen lines, replacement of any damaged lines and modification of their support assembly. |\n| | This Amendment, whilst continuing the requirements of the original issue, requires compliance in accordance with revision 1 of the service bulletin and revises the applicability. |\n| | The original issue of this Directive became effective on 30 July 2009. |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nJames Coyne \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n30 June 2009","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/AMD 50/47 Amdt 1","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/AMD 50/47 Amdt 1","content":"## AD/AMD 50/47 Amdt 1","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Crew and Passenger Oxygen Lines","sectionType":"part","heading":"Crew and Passenger Oxygen Lines","content":"## Crew and Passenger Oxygen Lines","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"9/2009","sectionType":"part","heading":"9/2009","content":"## 9/2009","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"kimi_summary":{"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"This Amendment 1 maintains the original safety purpose (oxygen line inspection and repair) while updating technical references to a revised service bulletin and adjusting applicability. See Table 1 in the instrument for the full list of serial numbers.\n- Requires three maintenance actions, performed in accordance with Dassault Aviation Service Bulletin (SB) F900EX-347 Revision 1: \n - Requirement 1: Inspect the crew and passenger oxygen lines (Part 1 of the SB). Compliance time: within two months of the amendment’s effective date.\n - Requirement 2: If the Requirement 1 inspection finds any interference or damage, replace the oxygen lines and install improved brackets (Part 2 of the SB). Compliance time: before further flight after the Requirement 1 check.\n - Requirement 3: Replace the oxygen line support assemblies (Part 2 of the SB). Compliance time: within 72 months of the amendment’s effective date.\n- Inspections and corrective actions already carried out before the amendment’s effective date using the initial issue of SB F900EX-347 (dated 19 March 2009) meet the amendment’s requirements. Later SB revisions approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) are also acceptable for compliance.\n\n**Why it was issued (stated purpose)**\n\n- A quality-control inspection found that right-hand crew and passenger oxygen lines on at least one Falcon 900EX could rub against or interfere with the aeroplane structure (frame 8) where a 115 cu-ft RHS mid-cabin oxygen cylinder is fitted. That interference may cause chafing and an oxygen leak. The amendment updates the original directive to require compliance with SB Revision 1 and adjusts the list of affected serial numbers.\n\n**Who is affected and who pays**\n\n- Affected parties: owners/operators of the listed Falcon 900EX aeroplanes and maintenance organisations that service them.\n- Who pays: aircraft owners/operators pay for the inspection work, any replacement oxygen lines, brackets and support assemblies, and associated labour and downtime.\n\n**What decision-makers and operators must do**\n\n- The operator or their approved maintenance organisation must arrange the inspection within the two-month window, carry out replacements before the next flight if damage/interference is found, and schedule replacement of the support assemblies within 72 months.\n- Compliance must follow the detailed steps in SB F900EX-347 Revision 1 (Parts 1 and 2). Later EASA‑approved SB revisions are acceptable.\n\n**Costs, incentives and trade-offs (practical effects)**\n\n- Direct costs: inspection labour, replacement parts (oxygen lines, brackets, support assemblies), and associated aircraft downtime. These are borne by the operator.\n- Concentrated benefits: safety improvement for operators of the affected serial-numbered aeroplanes; maintenance providers and parts suppliers may obtain concentrated contracts to perform the work.\n- Diffuse costs: none notable beyond the affected fleet; routine for normal commercial aviation maintenance.\n- Implementation risk and compliance burden: low-to-moderate. The directive relies on a manufacturer service bulletin (clear technical instructions) and allows previously completed work per the initial SB or later EASA‑approved revisions, which reduces ambiguity. The three different compliance timeframes create modest scheduling complexity for operators.\n\n**Effects on markets and private choice**\n\n- No change to ownership, market access, or competition rules. The measure imposes a maintenance obligation on identified aeroplanes; it does not restrict trade, pricing, or operations beyond the maintenance requirements and the short-term operational impact of inspections/repairs.\n\n**Regulatory cross-references and authority**\n\n- The amendment references and accepts compliance via Dassault SB F900EX-347 Revision 1 and notes EASA AD 2009-0126.\n\n**Summary sentence**\n\nThis is a targeted airworthiness amendment requiring inspection and, where necessary, replacement and support-modification of crew and passenger oxygen lines on 43 specified Falcon 900EX aeroplanes to address potential chafing and oxygen-leak risk; the maintenance work must follow Dassault SB F900EX-347 Rev 1 within the stated deadlines, with costs borne by operators."},"flash_summary_failed":{"failed":true,"reason":"A positive credit balance is required for all requests, including BYOK, so fallback providers remain available.
