#### 143M Acting appointments (1) The Minister may, after consulting the TSRA, appoint a person to act in the office of a member of the TSRA during any period, or during all periods, when the member is absent from duty or from Australia or is, for any reason, unable to perform the duties of the office. > Note: For rules that apply to acting appointments, see section 33A of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901. (2) The Minister must not appoint a person to act in the office of a member of the TSRA unless, having regard to section 142V, the person is qualified to be elected as a member. (3) The appointment of a person to act in the office of a member of the TSRA who is also the Chairperson of the TSRA does not constitute an appointment of the person to act as the Chairperson. (4) The appointment of a person to act in the office of a member of the TSRA who is also the Deputy Chairperson of the TSRA does not constitute an appointment of the person to act as the Deputy Chairperson.
