187 Escort for transfer (1) An escort is any one or more of the following: (a) a police officer; (b) a person authorised in writing by the Minister for the purpose. (2) A transfer order authorises the escort to hold, take and keep custody of the detainee until he or she is delivered to the specified detention centre in the State. (3) A transfer order is authority for the superintendent of a detention centre to deliver the detainee into the custody of an escort. (4) An escort who brings an interstate transferee from a State to the Territory is authorised to hold, take and keep custody of the detainee within the Territory for the purpose of delivering him or her to the detention centre specified in the transfer order.
