Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This proclamation, made by the Governor‑General under subsection 6(3) of the World Heritage Properties Conservation Act 1983, declares the Franklin–Lower Gordon Wild Rivers National Park (as it existed on 13 November 1981) to be a property to which section 9 of the Act applies. The stated factual basis is that parts of the property were being damaged and likely to be destroyed, which triggers the Act’s section 9 legal regime. Mechanically, it brings activities in those State reserves under Commonwealth authority under section 9, affecting the State, land managers and third parties operating there.
