497 Power to give advice on compliance (1) The Authority may give advice to a person who has an obligation under this Act, the **Accident Compensation Act 1985** or the **Workers Compensation Act 1958** about complying with that obligation. (2) The giving of such advice by the Authority does not give rise to— (a) any right, expectation, duty or obligation that would not otherwise be conferred or imposed on the person given the advice; or (b) any defence that would not otherwise be available to that person. (3) The Authority's power under this section to give advice may also be exercised by an inspector within the meaning of section 126 or, if the Authority authorises any other person to exercise the power, that other person. An inspector or other person exercising this power may not be liable for things done or omitted to be done in good faith (see section 499(3)).
