Western Australia act
This replaces the old Workers’ Compensation Act with a single, modern scheme that defines compensable work‑related injury, prescribes income/medical/rehab and lump‑sum entitlements, mandates employer insurance or self‑insurance, creates WorkCover WA to regulate funds and set rates, and establishes compulsory conciliation then arbitration for disputes. It affects injured workers, employers, insurers/self‑insurers, medical assessors and regulators, and matters because it centralises funding and oversight, tightens return‑to‑work and claims timetables, and limits common‑law exposure to contain scheme costs.
