(1) An insurer shall when requested to do so by the Authority or a person authorized in writing in that behalf by the Authority, forthwith produce to that person such books and records as are kept by the insurer in relation to claims which arise under the Act, the collection of contributions under this Part and the payment of contributions to the Authority as are specified by the person requiring the production. (2) A person to whom a document is produced under subsection (1) may examine the document in relation to any matter under this Part or under sections 2F or 2G and may take copies of or extracts from the document. (3) An insurer who without reasonable excuse fails or refuses to produce a document in accordance with a requirement made under subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence against this Act. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any rule of law or construction, the provisions of the principal Act as amended by the foregoing provisions of this Act, so far as they relate to rates or amounts of compensation, shall apply with respect to every payment of compensation after the commencement of this Act irrespective of the date of occurrence or origin of the injury or disease giving rise to the right to compensation and notwithstanding that an award for a lesser rate or amount may have been made by the Board before the commencement of this Act, and every policy of accident insurance or indemnity in force under the Workers Compensation Acts at the said commencement shall, notwithstanding anything to the contrary therein, be read and construed as fully insuring or indemnifying the employer against the increased liability accordingly. The **Workers Compensation Act 1958** was assented to on 30 September 1958 and came into operation on 1 April 1959: Government Gazette 18 March 1959 page 893. INTERPRETATION OF LEGISLATION ACT 1984 (ILA) Style changes Section 54A of the ILA authorises the making of the style changes set out in Schedule 1 to that Act. References to ILA s. 39B Sidenotes which cite ILA s. 39B refer to section 39B of the ILA which provides that where an undivided section or clause of a Schedule is amended by the insertion of one or more subsections or subclauses, the original section or clause becomes subsection or subclause (1) and is amended by the insertion of the expression "(1)" at the beginning of the original section or clause. Interpretation As from 1 January 2001, amendments to section 36 of the ILA have the following effects: • Headings All headings included in an Act which is passed on or after 1 January 2001 form part of that Act.
