57 Secretary may reinstate if satisfied that holder’s livelihood depends on permit
(1) A holder of a permit who has been given a demerit suspension notice or demerit cancellation notice may apply to the Secretary to have the permit reinstated. (2) Subsection (1) applies despite paragraphs 51(2)(b), 52(2)(b) and 54(2)(b). (3) If, and only if, the Secretary is satisfied that the suspension or cancellation would cause the holder severe financial hardship because, without the permit, the holder would not be able to earn a substantial proportion of the holder’s income, the Secretary may: (a) reinstate the permit; and (b) impose on the permit such conditions as the Secretary considers appropriate in the circumstances.
