Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: These rules set the safety boundary for the Williamstown Rifle Range in Victoria. They determine how far the public must stay away when people are shooting at this specific location.

How it works: The Defence Act requires a safe distance around anyone practicing rifle shooting. For this range, that "keep clear" zone is the area shown on the official map attached to these rules (the "hachured" or shaded area on the plan).

Who it affects: People living near or visiting the Williamstown Rifle Range, as well as defense personnel using the facility for target practice.

Why it matters: It keeps the public safe by legally defining exactly where people cannot go during shooting practice. Instead of using a generic measurement (like 500 metres), it uses a specific mapped boundary tailored to this location's geography.
