Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This law gives the Australian Wheat Board (the government body that controlled wheat marketing) the power to charge fees on wheat product exports by private traders.

How it works:

If a company or person (other than the Board itself) wants to export wheat products—such as flour, bran, or other processed wheat—the Board can require them to pay a fee.
The Board sets the amount based on the price difference between wheat sold for export and wheat sold within Australia.
The Board can block the export unless the fee is paid.

Why it matters: This ensures private exporters don't undercut the Board's coordinated selling system. It helps maintain stable returns for wheat growers by ensuring everyone exporting wheat products contributes fairly to the industry's income pool, preventing arbitrage between domestic and international prices.
