Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Act gives statutory force to a Royal Commission into Australia’s wheat and bread industries during the Great Depression, importing the compulsory summons, document-production and sworn-evidence powers of the Royal Commissions Act.

It also relaxes quorum requirements so any two commissioners may hear evidence. It affects wheat growers, handlers, millers, bakers and anyone compelled to give testimony or records, enabling a full inquiry into industry failures and supply issues.
