Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act is a straightforward £500,000 cash injection from the Commonwealth Government to Western Australia—essentially a 1930s federal bailout.

The deal:

The money: Half a million pounds (serious money in 1932, during the Great Depression).
The source: The Consolidated Revenue Fund (the Commonwealth's main bank account, funded by federal taxes).
The delivery: Paid in equal monthly instalments across the 1932-33 financial year.

Why it matters: This is fiscal federalism in its simplest form. Western Australia was struggling financially, so the federal government stepped in with direct budget support. No complex conditions, no repayment terms—just an outright grant to keep the state running during hard times.

Who is affected:

Western Australia: Receives the funds to prop up state services.
Federal taxpayers: Ultimately foot the bill through consolidated revenue.
