An authorised officer may, on written application, give the applicant written approval to take a particular safety or security measure for the safe storage of a weapon or relevant restricted item instead of a measure the applicant is required to take under this regulation for the weapon or relevant restricted item. The authorised officer may give the approval if satisfied— the proposed safety or security measure gives at least the same level of safety and security as the replaced measure; or for a licensed dealer who stocks a maximum of 20 firearms—the proposed safety or security measure is adequate to ensure the safety and security of the firearms. Compliance by the applicant with a safety or security measure approved under subsection (1) is taken to be compliance with the replaced measure. In this section— relevant restricted item means an item mentioned in the Weapons Categories Regulation 1997 , section 9 (f) or (g) . s 98 amd 2020 SL No. 155 s 7 (sec.98-ssec.1) An authorised officer may, on written application, give the applicant written approval to take a particular safety or security measure for the safe storage of a weapon or relevant restricted item instead of a measure the applicant is required to take under this regulation for the weapon or relevant restricted item.
