173  Authority’s powers  (1) The Authority has power to do anything that is necessary or convenient to be done for or in connection with the performance of its functions. Note 1: The Authority’s functions are set out in section 172, and in Part 1A (The Murray‑Darling Basin Agreement) and Part 2A (Critical human water needs). Note 2: Acquisitions of interests in land will be done in accordance with the Lands Acquisition Act 1989 and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.  (2) The Authority’s powers include, but are not limited to, the following powers:  (a) the power to acquire, hold and dispose of real and personal property;  (b) the power to enter into contracts. Note 1: Under paragraph 176(1)(c), the Authority may also sue and be sued in its corporate name. Note 2: Acquisitions of interests in land will be done in accordance with the Lands Acquisition Act 1989 and the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997.
