Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This declaration treats Australian Defence Force service on Operation Bolton in Iraq (31 Aug 1992–12 Jan 2003) as "warlike service" under the Defence Force (Home Loans Assistance) Act 1990. It affects current and former ADF members allotted to that operation and changes their eligibility/entitlement for government home‑loan assistance—potentially making them eligible for more generous subsidies and benefits than if the service were classed as non‑warlike.
