Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This regulation cancels (repeals) an earlier World War I rule that allowed the Australian government to seize rabbit skins from traders and producers.

What it does

Removes the War Precautions (Rabbit Skins Requisitioning) Regulations 1918 (Statutory Rules 1918, No. 159), which had given the government emergency powers to take possession of rabbit skins for the war effort (likely for military felt hats, clothing, or export control).

Who it affects

Rabbit trappers, skin dealers, and merchants who were previously subject to government requisitioning (forced seizure) of their stock.
These businesses can now trade rabbit skins freely without wartime government interference.

Why it matters

Ends a specific wartime economic control that was no longer necessary after the end of World War I (made in May 1919).
Returns the rabbit skin trade to normal commercial law, removing compulsory acquisition powers.
