Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This regulation scraps the wartime rules that controlled galvanized iron during World War I.

What it does: It repeals (cancels) the War Precautions (Galvanized Iron) Regulations 1917, which had placed government controls on galvanized iron—a common building material used for roofing, gutters, and fencing—under wartime emergency powers.

Who it affects:

Builders, roofers, and manufacturers who use or sell galvanized iron
Hardware suppliers and building merchants
Property owners undertaking construction or repairs

Why it matters: During the war, the government restricted trade in strategic materials to ensure military supplies were prioritized. This repeal removes those specific controls on galvanized iron, allowing normal commercial sales and private construction to resume without permits or price restrictions.
