Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act is as straightforward as legislation gets: it authorises the government to withdraw £10 million from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (the Commonwealth’s main bank account) and deposit it into a special trust account called the War Pensions Fund.

What this means in practice:

Who benefits: Veterans who were injured or disabled during military service, and the families (dependents) of those who died.
What it pays for: War pensions—regular financial benefits paid to support those who served or their surviving family members.
Why it exists: This is an appropriation (budget allocation) law. Parliament must legally approve the spending of public money, so this Act acts like a signed cheque, ensuring the Department can actually make these payments.

It’s a one-off, single-purpose money bill with no hidden provisions or policy changes.
