Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act authorises the government to withdraw £10 million from the national treasury (the Consolidated Revenue Fund) to fund war pensions.

War pensions are regular payments made to veterans injured or disabled during military service, or to the families of those who died. In 1937, this primarily supported veterans of the First World War and their dependants.

The money is paid into the War Pensions Fund — a special account established under the Audit Act — which ensures these funds can only be used for pension payments and related purposes.
