Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This law allocates £10 million from Australia's Consolidated Revenue Fund (the government's main bank account) to pay for war pensions.

What it does:

Authorises the payment of ten million pounds to the War Pensions Fund — a special trust account set up under the Audit Act
Provides financial support for veterans, war widows, and dependants who were injured or disabled during military service (primarily World War I, given the 1936 date)

Why it matters: Without this legislation, the government would lack legal authority to spend this money. This is a classic "money bill" — a short, technical law whose sole purpose is to approve the spending of public funds to honour pensions owed to former soldiers and their families.
