Plain English Summary

What this law does

This Act authorises the government to withdraw £10 million from Australia's national budget (the Consolidated Revenue Fund) specifically to pay war pensions to veterans and their families.

How the money flows

The cash goes into a special holding account called the War Pensions Fund (which was set up under auditing laws). This is essentially Parliament approving a specific budget line item—without this legal sign-off, the government couldn't legally spend the money, even if it was sitting in the treasury.

Who it affects

Veterans receiving pensions for war-related injury or service
Families of deceased or incapacitated service members receiving dependency pensions
The government departments administering these payments

Why it matters

This is a "supply" Act. It doesn't create new pension rules or decide who qualifies—that's handled by other laws. It simply unlocks the money needed to pay pensions that are already owed.
