Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This law authorises the Australian Government to withdraw £10 million (ten million pounds) from the national bank account — the Consolidated Revenue Fund — to pay war pensions.

The money is specifically allocated to the War Pensions Fund, a special government account established under the Audit Act to manage payments to veterans and their families. Given the 1930 date, these pensions were primarily for former service members of World War I, as well as widows and dependants.

Key terms explained:

Appropriation: Legal permission for the government to spend money from the national treasury
Consolidated Revenue Fund: Australia's main government bank account, where taxes and revenue are deposited
Trust Account: A separate 'bucket' within government finances reserved for specific purposes
