Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act gives the Commonwealth Government legal permission to spend £10 million (ten million pounds) from the national budget — the Consolidated Revenue Fund — to pay war pensions.

Who it affects:

World War I veterans receiving disability or service pensions
Widows and dependents of soldiers who died in the war
The Treasury, which manages the special trust account

What it does: The money is paid into a dedicated trust account called the War Pensions Fund (established under the Audit Act). This ensures there is dedicated funding to meet Australia's ongoing obligations to those who served in the Great War and their families.

Why it matters: This is a "supply" law. It provides the specific legal authority required for the government to draw money from the national purse to pay these pensions. Without this appropriation, the payments could not legally be made.
