Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This law authorises the government to spend £10 million (roughly $1 billion in today's money) from the national treasury to pay war pensions to World War I veterans and their families.

What it does:

Takes money from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (the government's main bank account)
Deposits it into a special trust account called the War Pensions Fund (established under the Audit Act)
Uses these funds to pay pensions to:
- Former soldiers injured or disabled during WWI
- Widows and dependents of soldiers who died in the war

Why it matters: This is a budget allocation (appropriation) Act. In the aftermath of WWI, Australia had tens of thousands of disabled veterans and war widows relying on government support. This law ensures the money is legally available to meet those pension obligations for the year.
