8Approved interstate energy efficiency regime

8 Approved interstate energy efficiency regime (1) The Minister, by notice published in the Government Gazette, may approve a law of another State or a Territory to be an approved interstate energy efficiency regime. (2) The Minister must not approve a law of another State or a Territory to be an approved interstate energy efficiency regime unless he or she is satisfied that— (a) the approval of that law would complement, and not detract from, the achievement of the purpose and objects of this Act; and (b) the approval of that law would not impose unreasonable costs on purchasers of electricity or gas in Victoria; and (c) the law promotes the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; and (d) the arrangements for the monitoring, and enforcement, of compliance with that law are no less stringent than those under this Act.
