23 Expiry of certificate (1) A certificate expires— (a) on the day which is the sixth anniversary of the day on which the prescribed activity was undertaken; or (b) if it is surrendered to the ESC before the certificate expires under paragraph (a), on the day on which it is surrendered. (2) If a certificate expires, the ESC must alter the entry relating to the certificate in the register of certificates to show that the certificate has expired and is no longer valid.
