16B Amendment of appointment of sessional and non‑sessional members (1) The Governor in Council may amend the appointment of a senior member or ordinary member who was appointed on a sessional basis so that the member's appointment continues on a non-sessional basis. (2) The Governor in Council may amend the appointment of a senior member or ordinary member who was appointed on a non‑sessional basis so that the member's appointment continues on a sessional basis. (3) The Governor in Council may amend an appointment under this section only with the member's prior consent. (4) Subsection (1) does not apply to a sessional member who has attained the age of 70 years. (5) If a member's appointment is amended under subsection (1), the member's term of office expires on whichever of the following first occurs— (a) the date that is 7 years after the original date of appointment; (b) the date that the member attains the age of 70 years. (6) If a member's appointment is amended under subsection (2), the member's term of office expires on the date that is 7 years after the original date of appointment.
