66 Abandonment of appointment A police officer or protective services officer who is absent from duty without authorisation or lawful reason for more than one calendar month is taken to have abandoned his or her appointment as a police officer or protective services officer. The powers of a police officer or protective services officer immediately cease on abandonment of appointment—see section 55.
