28A Period of probation for officers from other jurisdictions or re-appointed former police officers
(1) The Chief Commissioner may determine that the probation requirements set out in section 28 do not apply to a person referred to in section 29 who applies to be appointed as a police officer if, in the Chief Commissioner's discretion, it is appropriate to do so.
(2) The Chief Commissioner may determine that the probation requirements set out in section 28 do not apply to a person referred to in section 30 who applies to be reappointed as a police officer if, in the Chief Commissioner's discretion, it is appropriate to do so.
(3) A determination under subsection (1) or (2) must fix a period of probation of a specified period, being—
(a) at least 3 months and not more than 2 years, as the Chief Commissioner considers appropriate; and
(b) not longer than could have been imposed under section 28 had the person been a new appointment under section 27.
