273 Magistrates' Court may extend 6 month period (1) A police officer may apply to the Magistrates' Court within 6 months after seizing a thing under this Division for an extension of the period for which the officer may retain the thing. (2) The Magistrates' Court may order such an extension if satisfied that retention of the thing is necessary— (a) for the purposes of an investigation into whether a relevant offence has occurred; or (b) to enable evidence of the commission of a relevant offence to be obtained for the purposes of a prosecution; or (c) for the purposes of an investigation or proposed investigation under Part 7, 9 or 10.
