227J Authorised person may seek court order (1) If an authorised person believes on reasonable grounds that a person may have contravened this Act or the regulations, the authorised person may apply to the Magistrates' Court for an order requiring any person at a time and place specified by the authorised person— (a) to answer orally or in writing any questions put by the authorised person in relation to the alleged contravention; or (b) to supply orally or in writing information required by the authorised person in relation to the alleged contravention; or (c) to produce to the authorised person specified documents or documents of a specified class of document relating to the alleged contravention. (2) The Magistrates' Court may make the order if the Court is satisfied that there are reasonable grounds to believe that a person may have contravened this Act or the regulations. (3) An order must state a day on which the order ceases to have effect. (4) If an order does not state a day on which the order ceases to have effect, the order ceases to have effect 28 days after the making of the order. S. 227K inserted by No. 21/2017 s. 46.
