Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This determination replaces the 2001 decision for Operation SLIPPER, formally classifying service in the Afghanistan operational area and, newly, Diego Garcia (and nearby waters/airspace) as "warlike service" for 11 Oct 2001–30 Jul 2009. Affected Australian Defence Force members become eligible for warlike-service entitlements—disability and service pensions, health care, and bereavement payments.
