Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This declaration records that Australian Defence Force service during the 1999 NATO campaign in Kosovo (Operation Allied Force, 15 April–3 June 1999, in specified areas including FR Yugoslavia, Albania, Macedonia, the Adriatic Sea and NATO bases in Italy) is classified as "non‑warlike service" rather than "warlike" under the Veterans' Entitlements Act. That classification determines the level and type of pensions and medical benefits veterans can claim. The Minister for Veterans' Affairs made the determination under section 5C(1) of the Act.
