Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs revoked an earlier Determination and declared that Australian Defence Force service with UNOCA or UNMCTT in Afghanistan on or after 8 June 1991 is “hazardous service” for the purposes of paragraph 120(7) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986.

Taken to have commenced 8 June 1991, the change alters the legal classification used to decide entitlements and administrative decisions for personnel who served with those UN missions.
